The Devil Went Down to Georgia
With slight rewrites
The other day someone either Threaded or Stacked the first line below.
And I knew right then I was going to rewrite the whole song.
Today seemed like a good day to share, even though it’s not food or health related like my blog.
HINT: It’s better if you sing it. I downloaded the Karaoke version and have been belting it out around the house. FUN.
Someone should probably alert Randy Rainbow.
The Devil went down to Georgia, he was lookin’ for some votes to steal, He was in a bind cause he was way behind, knew he’d lost the race for real When he came upon this woman dolin’ out justice up and down the block And the Devil jumped up on a hickory stump, said, “Hey, let me tell you what!
You prob’ly didn't know it, but I'm a legal expert, too And if you’d care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you Now you’re a pretty good lawyer, ma’am, but give the Devil his due I'll bet years inside against your hide, cause I think I'm smarter than you.”
She said, "My name's Fani and it might be a sin But I’ll take your bet, you're gonna regret, cause I'm the best that's ever been
So polish up that gavel judge, hear Fani Willis preach 'Cause hell's broke loose in Georgia and the Devil’s within reach And if you win you’ll give Democracy a better hold, You’re fighting for our nation’s very soul!
The Devil opened up his case, and said, "I'll start this show,” And fire flew from his fingertips as the lies began to flow, And his minions made up precedents that never did exist, Then a band of MAGAs joined in, and it sounded something like this
(Demonic instrumental riff)
When the Devil finished, Fani said, “Well, you're pretty good, old son Now sit in that defendant’s chair, lemme show you how it's done!"
CHORUS 1: You can’t deny what you said on tape And what you did to E. Jean Carroll was rape Babies in cages, alligator moats Eleven thousand seven hundred eighty votes
(Far Superior instrumental rif)
Well, the Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat The jury said “HE”S GUILTY” and the words, they sounded sweet. Fani said, "Devil, you come on back for sentencing and jeers I’ll tell you now, you son of a gun, you’re going away for years"
CHORUS 2: Now we’ve got your ass dead-to-rights, you see Documents hidden where you go pot-ty Fake electors, attempted coup, This is the end of the line for you!
